Training for National Employment Service counsellors working with the low-skilled unemployed

The training for employment counsellors working with profiling and identifying the needs of low-skilled unemployed persons was held in the period from June 4 to 5, 2020 in Belgrade.

The two-day training was attended by 22 counselors from various branch offices throughout Serbia, in order to improve knowledge and improve work procedures in counselling low-skilled unemployed people. The training covered a wide range of topics that contributed to a better understanding of the concept of low-skilled workers, legislation framework and practical procedures related to profiling, efficient communication and welfare at work, gender-sensitive and intercultural counselling, inter-institutional cooperation by illustrating EU best practices.


The training was opened by Dragana Ugrenović, Project Manager and Head of the Department for Planning and Implementation of IPA projects in NES. This is also the first and last training that the project "Technical Assistance for Capacity Building in Employment Policy" conducted in the open space in a safe and elegant setting, respecting all legally prescribed epidemiological health and safety measures.

The training was conducted by Jelena Vahakopus, the Team Leader of the project, and Slađana Lević, the Junior Non-Key Expert of the project. 


The training was conducted as an integral part of Component 1, which aims to improve the NES training programmes by identifying and tackling the skills gaps of the unemployed.

The project "Technical Assistance for Capacity Building in Employment Policy" aims to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth for Serbia, by creating professional and capable staff. The involvement of the socially vulnerable population is also of key importance for the project.
